Google Uganda has now recently been made available in Luganda, a language native to Uganda according to Google Africa blog. The translation was facilitated by Jonathan Gosier of the Appfrica Labs team, Nabireeba James and James Olweny of Makerere University.
Google Uganda was already available in Swahili, the addition of Luganda will make Google more accessible and usable to the Luganda speaking population in Uganda. This is an obvious move by Google to make itself more relevant for the local population.
The translation happened by leveraging locals, in a grassroots like movement.
